Collecting documentation for a TN visa

If you are a NAFTA professional worker seeking to travel to Corona, California, or elsewhere in the United States, it is important to pay careful attention to the detailed requirements for a TN visa. At the U.S. Law Center, we understand that conducting business activities in the United States can be vital to the success of your employer or company, so providing accurate and adequate documentation is essential.

The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Consular Affairs lists many required documents that must be brought to a visa interview, as well as suggestions for other proof of your eligibility that may be requested. If you have already paid the fee for your application, you must bring the receipt with you. The page verifying your application should be with you, as well, and your valid passport. You may also need your picture.

In addition to these basic items, you must bring documentation providing evidence of your professional qualifications to the interview to demonstrate that you have the proper experience in your field. Business records should be provided if your experience includes owning your own company, and past employers should provide you with letters as evidence. Membership in professional organizations, professional licensure, certifications, diplomas and degrees are all acceptable forms of educational qualifications.

A professional is not automatically eligible based solely on qualifications. Regarding your employment, you will need to provide evidence of the role you will be filling in the United States as a professional. Details such as how long you plan to stay, what your job duties will be and how you will be paid for them should be included in a letter or contract from your future employer. More information about employment visas is available on our website.
